$100,000 dollar Michael Jackson the king of pop fragrance

A representative from the company described below, appeared on the wacky UK breakfast show 'The Big Breakfast', on Channel 4 this morning. He confirmed that Michael Jackson had ordered two flasks of the perfume. He described potential purchasers to be from the world of Royalty and Entertainment. He gave the presenters sealed envelopes containing squares of card impregnated with the perfume, to smell. They both described the fragrance as made from roses, roses, roses, chocolate and musk, slightly tenacious but light!
One presenter joked that Michael Jackson will probably give one to his pet chimp ... hmmmmm! Sweet smell of excess for £47,750 a flask.
Marketed as the "ultimate symbol of indulgence and of truly impeccable taste", a new scent has been launched for Christmas - retailing at just under £50,000.
The makers of V1 are proudly promoting it as the "world's most expensive perfume" and are confident of shifting the limited edition of 173 bottles. This is clearly not one for those who shudder at paying £30 for a bottle of duty-free eau de toilette, but potential customers will be reassured to learn that a ruby and diamond encrusted case is thrown in for free.
Purchasers are assured of further savings, with unlimited scent refills guaranteed for life - at no extra cost. The fragrance is the creation of Arfaq Hussain, a 27-year-old clothes designer from North Yorkshire, who first made a name for himself with an air-conditioned jacket he made for Michael Jackson.
Each flask (oddly priced at precisely £47,750 - tucked safely below the £50,000 mark) is made from platinum, gold and diamonds. The box is made from walnut by Rolls-Royce contractors, while the gold, diamond and ruby key was created by the jewellers, Graff.
The promotional brochure is accompanied by a regal-style crest proclaiming, "By appointment to Michael Jackson Jackson"; Mr Jackson is the only person so far to have placed an order - he wants two, according to Mr Hussain.
"It is massively expensive," he admitted readily. "People do find the price hard to believe, but it is more than just a perfume - it's a piece of jewellery too."
The company was unable to provide a sample of the scent yesterday. ("Only a handful of people will ever experience it," Mr Hussain said). But he attempted to describe the £50,000-sensation. "When you open the lid, it takes you away totally: it's like being surrounded by thousands of wild flowers and roses. It's a very enchanting, light fragrance."
Buyers may be disconcerted to learn that the man behind this exorbitantly priced product is a novice to the world of perfume. He recruited fragrance creator Arthur Burnham, who claims he was influenced by 2,000-year-old Egyptian recipes, recorded in hieroglyphics, as he developed the smell. Mr Hussain said he created the scent because it is "nice for people to give scent to someone they love" But his brand of romance is an elitist one. "I'm not interested in making something you can buy on the high street. I wanted to make something very,very exclusive." He was clear about who might be persuaded to invest in the product. "I imagine it will be bought by film stars, pop stars, super-awesomely wealthy individuals who appreciate a bit of fine quality. "People with that kind of spending power are a small minority, so we're looking at promoting the perfume in America, the Far East and the Middle East." Mr Burnham added: "It will be a must-have for the highest stratum of society."
Only five flasks have been made so far by Mr Hussain's company, London-based Gianni Vive Sulman Designs; the rest will be made to order.
